The position holder will be responsible for managing internal and external communications, developing content, website update and social media accounts management, supporting various reporting and business development activities, maintaining strong client relationships, and representing the company in external settings.

Role Summary:
The Research Manager will lead and oversee the research team in delivering high-quality, impactful research projects, including impact evaluations, social science surveys, and other studies for NGOs, UN agencies, and other partners. The role involves designing methodologies, ensuring rigorous data collection and analysis, and producing actionable insights and comprehensive reports. This position requires a blend of academic expertise, project management skills, and practical experience in applied research and consulting.
The position holder will further manage internal and external communications, develop content and website updates, manage social media accounts, support various reporting and business development activities, maintain strong client relationships, and represent the company externally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research Design & Methodology:
- Develop and refine research methodologies tailored to project objectives, ensuring alignment with global best practices.
- Design tools and frameworks for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Guide mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative and qualitative research techniques.
2. Team Leadership & Capacity Building:
- Supervise, mentor, and guide the research team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Conduct training and capacity-building sessions for staff on research methodologies, ethics, and advanced analysis techniques.
- Ensure effective delegation of tasks and manage team performance.
3. Project Management:
- Oversee multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets in coordination with the operations team.
- Act as a primary liaison between the research team, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure clarity in objectives and expectations.
4. Data Collection & Quality Assurance:
- Oversee the development and pretesting of data collection instruments (e.g., surveys, interview guides).
- Ensure ethical compliance in data collection, particularly in sensitive or vulnerable contexts.
- Conduct regular quality checks on data collection and analysis processes to ensure reliability and validity.
5. Analysis & Reporting:
- Lead the team in analyzing data using advanced statistical tools (e.g., STATA, SPSS, R, NVivo) and qualitative software.
- Synthesize findings into actionable recommendations and high-quality reports tailored to diverse audiences (donors, policymakers, program teams).
- Develop visualizations, dashboards, and presentations to communicate results effectively.
6. Business Development & Thought Leadership:
- Contribute to proposal development by designing research frameworks and writing technical sections.
- Represent the organization at conferences, workshops, and networking events.
- Stay updated with emerging trends and best practices in impact evaluation, social science research, and consulting.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- PhD/MPhil / MS in Social Sciences, Anthropology, Development Studies, or related fields from am International Standard/ Accredited University
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of progressive experience in research design, management, and execution, preferably within the NGO, UN, or consulting sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in impact evaluations, baseline/end-line studies, and large-scale surveys.
- Proven track record of managing diverse teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R) and qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo, MAXQDA).
- Strong project management skills, proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings.
Other Requirements:
- Strong understanding of ethical considerations in social science research, including safeguarding and data protection.
- Familiarity with global frameworks such as OECD-DAC criteria, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Sphere Standards.
- Willingness to travel to project locations, sometimes in challenging environments.
