About Tearfund - Pakistan
Tearfund is an international relief and development organization, based in the United Kingdom, working in 50 countries to build individuals and communities to eradicate poverty.
Tearfund’s vision is to see people free from poverty, reaching their potential and leading meaningful lives. As an institution, Tearfund wants to see individuals and communities developed by hope, dignity and opportunity. Therefore, it focuses on the poorest of the poor and those hardest to reach; it works across the globe with local communities, equipping local people to make and sustain change. Tearfund’s work aligns closely with many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the first goal, which speaks of eradicating poverty in all its forms.
Through its efforts across the globe, Tearfund seeks the following outcomes:
People mobilized: Individuals are envisioned, empowered and equipped to play their role in transforming the poorest communities and changing society for the better;
Communities developed: The poorest communities are resilient to shocks and stresses, actively working for and with unity and contributing to a better future for themselves and others;
Emergency needs met: Immediate needs are met in a timely and appropriate manner when crises and disasters adversely affect communities, systems and mechanisms;
Society changed: Social, economic and environmental systems work for the poorest communities, ensuring access to basic needs, reduced inequality and sustainable well-being and growth;
Tearfund and its partners are committed to excellence at all levels and irrespective of the context. The organization holds itself and all those associated with it to the highest standards of quality, accountability, transparency and impartiality. Tearfund expects the highest behavior standards across all its work and stands against any conduct that is incompatible with its values. Tearfund strives to equip and empower those it serves and is firmly committed to community-led and participatory approaches to development and humanitarian response.
Tearfund responds to rapid-onset disasters and protracted crises; it targets emergency support to those in greatest need and supports collaborative humanitarian response and localisation of aid. Tearfund helps affected and vulnerable communities become resilient to shocks and stresses, and to build better futures for themselves and others through skill development, awareness-raising, promotion of best practices and sharing meaningful information. Tearfund recognises the adverse impact of climate change and environmental degradation on community well-being, food security and livelihoods; therefore, it promotes models and solutions that contribute to the restoration of the environment at local, regional and national levels, improved management and use of natural resources, creation of sustainable ‘green’ livelihoods and improved coordination between key stakeholders.
